A Different Name - But Nazis Are Nazis And They’re Back

Harry Moses wondered if it all started with people in authority looking away as handmade signs covered with hate were held high by Jew Haters.

The disgusting lies and propaganda spouted by those who hated the Jewish people and Israel was beyond disturbing and it was even worse when the local news outlets parroted lies, without any kind of fact-checking.

Harry had lost many family members in the Holocaust and when his family was able to move to Canada they never thought they would hear the blood libels again, but they were wrong. Eighty years later, Anti-Semitism was a popular movement. Harry wanted to cry when his thirteen-year-old son Abe, asked why a rapper he liked named Kanye West was constantly attacking the Jews. It was even worse when his daughter Leah came home from University and told him she was kind of scared to go back because of the very loud and obvious Jew Hatred on campus. What was even more disturbing was the number of Professors who were constantly attacking the Jewish people. Hate was everywhere.

Harry who was a Mechanical Engineer decided to conduct a test. He was doing it for himself and nobody else, but he needed to find out if he was being paranoid and neurotic or what he was feeling was real.

He went online and printed one hundred stories about Israel from mainstream media and then he pulled stories off some of the more obscure sites. He took one hundred stories from different originators and placed them in a pile. Every night, he took a pen and crossed out Israel and Zionists and instead just substituted the word ‘’Jews’

Harry’s conclusion was Der Sturmer was back in business. Hateful lies and non-stop dehumanization and delegitimization of the Jewish people. It was hard to decipher the current articles from the ones published by Nazis in the 1930s.

After having a serious consultation with his wife Alicia, it was decided that his son Abe should stop listening to Kanye and others who spewed the same kind of crap. The attack on Drake by Kendrick Lamar in his song ‘’Not One Of Us’’ could easily have been a non-stop vile attack on Drake (calling him a pedophile) because of his Jewish background. Was ‘’Not One Of Us’’ just another veiled anti-semitic song, lies, and more lies, it clicked all the boxes.

Harry and his wife sat down with his daughter Leah and told her she was going to be changing Universities and would be attending Yeshiva University. She could pursue her Law Degree without fear of attack by Professors because she was Jewish and supported Israel.

After making the decision, Harry decided to take the night off and watch a Soccer game from Amsterdam. Maccabi Tel Aviv was playing. Their fans were in full support.

After the game, a news flash came across the screen. The Jewish fans of Maccabi had been attacked in Holland by well-organized hate mobs. The terrorists had surrounded their hotels in Amsterdam and waited as the Jewish fans of Maccabi got off trains and if they missed the intended victims at the train stations, they attacked them in front of the doors to get into the hotels. The violence was reprehensible and the Police response was deplorable. It took hours for them to show up on the scene.

Harry shook as he watched the violence on the screen. It looked like the mob was prepared to kill. The violence was extreme.

It was announced that Israel was sending two special planes to Amsterdam to bring the Jewish victims home. Harry couldn’t believe it. Jews fleeing Europe again because of pure, unleashed, hate against them. The ghosts of the Nazis who murdered six million Jews were laughing, the ghosts of the six million Jewish victims killed in the Holocaust, (including Harry’s relatives) were crying.

Harry turned off the television and walked like the weight of a thousand-pound anvil was on his shoulders. He cried when he looked in on Abe in his room and Leah in hers. What kind of future were they facing?

As he walked into the master bedroom, Alicia was looking at him with love and concern. She knew what her kids were going through, and was worried about the impact it was having on her husband. She didn’t know about the Amsterdam pogrom.

Harry couldn’t tell her, even if he wanted to. The words wouldn’t come out of his mouth. Instead, he slowly entered his shower trying to wash off the grime from what he had just witnessed on television. Tears were slowly rolling down his face.

It made him worry. Was Amsterdam just the start? How far away were the sadistic violent anti-semitic mobs from Toronto’s Jewish community? He wasn’t a religious man, but he prayed hard that Gd would protect his family and give them all strength. With the Nazis back, they would all need internal fortitude and an exit plan.
