In short, if Israel HAD maintained a day to day occupation of Gaza, Octobder 7th would never have happened.

For 17 years, Hamas & the Gazans (who elected Hamas in 2007) did nothing to create a working society or infrastructure for the population, instead they created hundreds of miles of tunnels, stock piled mountains of munitions, stole millions of dollars and aid earmarked for the civilian population. They have done nothing to suggest they actually want a state, what they want is the eradication of Israel and all Jews.
Also Jordan held the West Bank between 1948 and 1967 and made no attempt whatsoever to form a Palestinian state. That too was a complete 'occupation', but is never mentioned by the usual protest mob.

There was an informal " experiment" by 2 Jewish men, claiming to have been part of the massacres to small groups on an American Campus. The groups would listen without much reaction UNTIL they said they even killed their pet dogs. Only THEN was there a negative reaction, such as " why did you kill their DOGS?". Or they moved away saying THAT was just too much! What can I even say about young people with no regard for human life???
